A BIT ABOUT US

The Other Theatre is an independent theatre company founded in 2018. The Other Theatre is a company made up of young creatives who are interested in creating theatre that is a bit different.

Founded by Eugene Lynch, artistic director, the company launched with Shakespeare’s Richard II in September 2018 (ESCAC/Bondi Pavilion Transfer). Followed up by a sell-out production of Mike Bartlett’s Cock for Mardi Gras Festival 2019, the company then gave the Australian premiere of Marius von Mayenburg’s The Dog, The Night and The Knife (M2 Gallery, April 2019). In October 2019, The Other Theatre presented its first opera, Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas in October 2019.

In 2020, The Other Theatre staged the first opera following Australia's national COVID lockdowns with its production of Graeme Koehne and Louis Nowra's Love Burns.
